Usnavi grapples with a potentially life-changing lottery ticket, while other characters face their own challenges - a failing car service business, forbidden love, and the struggle to preserve cultural heritage. The off-Broadway production received critical acclaim, earning nine Drama Desk Award nominations and winning two, including Outstanding Musical. The show's success continued on Broadway, where it truly soared.
