David Frost and Richard Nixon -- the two men could not have been more different. One was an affable television journalist and talk show host: the other, the secretive and brooding former President of the United States. But by the late 1970s the acclaim both men had once enjoyed had been lost. Frost had been abandoned by his fans and Nixon, facing probable impeachment, resigned his office and sought out self-imposed exile.
Now, in a compelling new production, Brookfield Theatre re-creates the face-to-face interviews by which Frost sought to recapture his reputation and career and which, in a shattering confession, sealed Nixon’s fate. This vivid stage adaptation was written by Peter Morgan, who also fashioned the prize-winning film.
“Frost/Nixon” stars Kevin Sosbe as David Frost and Will Jeffries as Richard Nixon. It is directed by Dana O’Neal. The cast also includes Rachel Ames, Ian Arbues, A.M. Bhatt, Rick Haylon, Leigh Carusone Katz, Nick Kaye, Michelle Leigh, Ron Malyszka, Roberto Perez, Jose Romen, Fred Rueck, and Amy Soderquist.
Opening night is Fri., Sept. 8 with performances on Fri. and Sat. at 8pm through Sept. 23. There will be a Sunday matinee on Sept. 17 at 2pm and a free preview for senior citizens on Thurs., Sept. 7 at 8pm. Tickets are $20 and may be purchased at the box office or online at www.BrookfieldTheatre.org. Theatergoers may also visit the lobby art gallery which displays a variety of noteworthy photos by local professional photographers.
