Tom Wolfes international bestseller The Bonfire of the Vanities is still relevant 30 years later. The book, which was turned into a 1990 film adaptation starring Tom Hanks, mercilessly lampoons the wolves of Wall Street, the real housewives of Park Avenue, and anyone else in its path. The opera adaption by composer Stefania de Kenessey and librettist and director Michael Bergmann updates this satirical drama to the stage in a critically-acclaimed world premiere production which was filmed at New York Citys El Museo del Barrio. All proceeds from this screening will go towards the Leir Foundation Arts for Everyone Outreach Program, which provides tickets to shows for low income families and schools.
