The Jewish Federation of Western Connecticut Foundation in association with the Warner Theatre will present the world premiere of the new musical, Gefilte Fish Chronicles: The Musical, today, March 2-10 at the Warner's Nancy Marine Studio Theatre.
The Gefilte Fish Chronicles started as a casual attempt to record the history of a time-honored family dinner celebration, then blossomed into an award winning documentary that continues to be seen, on over 70 PBS stations, throughout the US and Canada.
And now the Gefilte Fish Chronicles, book by Matty Selman and Iris Burnett and music and lyrics by Matty Selman, has been developed as an irresistible and compelling musical about the transition of treasured memories and stories, from generation to generation. It is a heartwarming, sometimes touching, often hilarious musical about celebration and the power of family and tradition. Although it was inspired by a documentary about how one family remains spiritually and physically connected to one another, it has become a universal story about all family legacies.
The Gefilte Fish Chronicles will be performed by the Warner Stage Company. Performances are Saturday, March 2 & 9 at 8pm, Friday, March 8 at 8pm and Sunday, March 10 at 2pm. Tickets are $26 and can be purchased by calling the Warner box office at 860-489-7180 or online at www.warnertheatre.org.
