Westport Country Playhouse Hosts Young Professionals Party Following "Seasons"

Westport Country Playhouse's Young Professionals Network will present a post-performance party with actress and vocalist Tracie Thoms, following her "Seasons" concert on Friday, December 10, 8 p.m. Tickets are $30 per person for party and show; $25 each when purchasing two. "The Young Pros party is an opportunity to come together at The Playhouse to enjoy some in-person social networking and a terrific show at an affordable price" said Jenn Bond, Playhouse community relations liaison. "It's a perfect way to spend a December evening with other young professionals."

Tracie Thoms will grace The Playhouse stage following her smash hit debut at New York's Feinstein's. Throughout her young career, Thoms has had wide-ranging success in film, television and theater. Audiences will recognize her from her starring role as 'Joanne' in Sony's film of the musical "Rent," a role which she reprised on Broadway in 2008 and again recently at the Hollywood Bowl under the direction of Neil Patrick Harris. In 2007, she starred in Quentin Tarantino's "Grindhouse: Death Proof," and was also featured in "The Devil Wears Prada." Thoms was a regular on the hit CBS series, "Cold Case."

The Playhouse's Young Professionals Network creates fun and interactive programs geared to young professionals, ages 21 to 40, featuring cocktail parties and live music, in conjunction with Playhouse performances.

In addition to the concert by Tracie Thoms on Friday, December 10, other December events include "The Nutcracker," a holiday ballet presented by Ballet Etudes, on Saturday and Sunday, December 4 and 5; "The Clowns and Mr. Beckett," an evening with Bill Irwin and Doug Skinner, on Saturday, December 11; "Season's Greetings," a family festivities afternoon, on Sunday, December 12; "The Greatest Gift," a Script in Hand playreading, on Monday, December 13; and The Broadway Boys, a holiday concert Broadway style, on Saturday and Sunday, December 18 and 19.

Westport Country Playhouse, a not-for-profit theater, serves as a treasured home for the performing arts and is a cultural landmark for Connecticut. Westport Country Playhouse's five-play 2011 season: "Beyond Therapy," a wicked, and wickedly funny, look at the days and nights of the young and single, written by comic master Christopher Durang and directed by Tony Award winner John Rando, April 26 - May 14; "The Circle," the scintillating comedy of manners, written by W. Somerset Maugham and directed by Nicholas Martin, June 7 - June 25; "Lips Together, Teeth Apart," a perceptive comedy about people struggling against their limitations, written by Terrence McNally and directed by Mark Lamos, Playhouse artistic director, July 12 - July 30; "Suddenly Last Summer," the poetic, sensual and evocative drama, written by Tennessee Williams and directed by David Kennedy, Playhouse associate artistic director, August 23 - September 10; and "Twelfth Night, or What You Will," the beguiling comedy/romance, written by William Shakespeare and directed by Mark Lamos, October 11 - October 29.
