Westport Country Playhouse Elects Four New Trustees

Four new members were elected to the board of trustees at Westport Country Playhouse during 2017. They join the current 31 trustees, led by Barbara Streicker of Westport, chair.

Athena T. Adamson, of Easton, is a graduate of Yale College. After graduation she worked for the Yale Office of Development, in the office of Principal Gifts. She is also a graduate of the French Culinary Institute, and worked for Food and Wine Magazine. During her time in Los Angeles, Adamson pursued screenwriting. She is most passionate about the world of theater, which takes her back to her roots--growing up in New York City with a father who was a stage actor. Adamson also serves as co-chair of the Playhouse's annual fundraising gala.

Amy C. Corn, of New Canaan, is a lawyer with over 35 years of experience in corporate law and governance. She retired in 2016 as Vice President, Secretary and Chief Governance Officer at Pitney Bowes Inc. She has served as a board member of the Society for Corporate Governance, as well as chair of its National Corporate Practices Committee. She is the 2016 recipient of the Bracebridge Young Award, the highest honor conferred by the Society for Corporate Governance. She is also a past president of the Stockholder Relations Society of New York, and has served on the boards of the United Way of New Canaan and the Volunteer Center of Southwest Fairfield County. Corn received her BA, magna cum laude, from Tufts University and her JD from the Columbus School of Law, Catholic University of America, where she was an editor of the Law Review.

Ellen H. Petrino, of Westport, is a Principal and senior investment consultant in the Norwalk office of Mercer Investments. She joined Mercer through the 2011 acquisition of Evaluation Associates, of which she was a founding partner, and she brings over 35 years of investment and consulting experience to her work with clients. She is a member of Mercer's U.S. Investment Policy Committee and the Endowment & Foundation Investment Committee. Petrino graduated with a BA from Mount Holyoke College and received an MBA from New York University Stern School of Business. She is a former trustee of Mount Holyoke College and serves as member and former chairman of its Investment Committee. She is a director, treasurer and co-chair of the Finance Committee of Norwalk Community College Foundation, Inc., and director emerita and past treasurer of the World Foundation for Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, Inc.

Barbara Samuelson, of New York City, is a Senior Vice President at Merrill Lynch where she has been for over 40 years. She oversees a team of investment professionals who manage client portfolios. Early in her career, she wrote investment articles for Barron's and The New York Times. A lifelong New Yorker, she is very interested in improving the environment where she lives. As a result, she is on the Executive Committee of Grow NYC whose predecessor organization was Council on the Environment. She is also on the board of the American Israel Cultural Foundation, the President's Commission at Wheaton College, the Finance Committee of the Ronald McDonald House NY, and a senior member of the Financial Women's Association. She graduated from Wheaton College and received her MBA from NYU.

The mission of Westport Country Playhouse is to enrich, enlighten, and engage the community through the power of professionally produced theater worth talking about and the welcoming experience of the Playhouse campus. The Playhouse provides this experience in multiple ways by offering: Live theater experiences of the highest quality, under the artistic direction of Mark Lamos; educational and community engagement events to further explore the work on stage; programs for students and teachers with extensive curriculum support material; Script in Hand play readings to deepen relationships with audiences and artists; the renowned Woodward Internship Program during the summer months for aspiring theater professionals; Family Festivities presentations to delight young and old alike and to promote reading through live theater; youth performance training and performance opportunities through Broadway Method Academy, WCP's resident conservatory; and the beautiful and historic Playhouse campus open for enjoyment and community events year-round.
