Kenneth Merz, President of the Board of Directors of The Northwest Connecticut Association for the Arts has announced the appointment of John Bonanni as the new Executive Director of the Warner Theatre, the beautifully restored art deco performing arts center located in Torrington, Connecticut.

John will tap into his theatrical and managerial expertise, overseeing all operations of the performing arts center, which includes The Warner Stage Company and the Warner Theatre Center for Arts Education, as well as developing the scope of programming and community outreach that has become the signature of the Warner.

When asked why the Warner piqued his interest, John responded: "This is an irresistible environment that instills purpose, vitality and confidence into the lives of all participants - volunteer, donor, patron - through the enjoyment of cultural expression. I am amazed at the wonderful work that is being done by the Warner Theatre Center for Arts Education and the fine offerings of The Warner Stage Company. Delivering innovative, community minded educational and entertainment programs will enhance the ongoing revitalization of Torrington as a cultural and recreational destination".

Having launched his theatrical career at Connecticut's Goodspeed Opera House, and been seasoned by eight Broadway productions, John joins the Warner from his present role as head of Big Fish Big Pond, Ltd., a theatrical production company whose latest offering is the world premiere of "Slow Dance With a Hot Pickup". This show is scheduled to open in Boulder in September 2011. During his twelve years at Madison Square Garden Entertainment, John was production executive for over 1000 concerts and events, as well as the Executive Producer of the famous Radio City Christmas Spectacular in New York and national tours. It culminated in the critically acclaimed 75th Anniversary production in 2007.
