WICKED alums Lindsay Mendez, Derek Klena, and Kara Lindsay will join together tonight at Connecticut's Ridgefield Playhouse for An Evening with Stephen Schwartz. Their performances will be interwoven throughout the evening, which will consist primarily of an interview between Michael Kerker and Stephen Schwartz himself.
The Ridgefield Playhouse will present An Evening with Stephen Schwartz, one of the most prolific Broadway composer/lyricists of our time - as he's interviewed by the ASCAP Director of Musical Theatre, Michael Kerker, in an "Inside the Actors Studio" -style event. Interwoven throughout the evening will be performances by the stars of Schwartz' hit Broadway musical Wicked with Lindsay Mendez who played Elphaba, Kara Lindsay who played Glinda, and Derek Klena who played Fiyero. Wicked musical director, Bryan Perri will accompany the performers.
In addition to Wicked, which has recently surpassed $1billion in ticket sales and has surpassed Rent as the 10th longest running show in Broadway history, Schwartz has written such hit musicals as "Godspell", and "Pippin", among others, and has been awarded multiple Oscars, Grammys, Tonys, Drama Desk Awards and a Golden Globe. Simply put, Stephen Schwartz will surely go down in history as the premier American musical theater composer of our time. Produced by Daniel C. Levine (Les Miserables, Chicago, Mamma Mia!).
