Westport Community Theatre kicks off the 55th Anniversary Season with "Enter Laughing," a heartfelt, heartwarming relatable coming-of-age comedy that just happens to tell the story of writer, actor, director Carl Reiner's early days in show business. Opening weekend performances are Friday, September 24 and Saturday, September 25 at 8:00 PM, and Sunday, September 26 at 2:00 PM.
Young David Kolowitz is a stage-struck, woman-struck teenager from the Bronx with dreams of being an actor; "Enter Laughing" tells his story, from his days as a machinist to his first breaks in show business to his perpetually endearing faux pas to his fond family recollections. Written by Joseph Stein, noted actor / director Will Jeffries directs this wonderful comedy that is based on the semi-autobiographical novel by Carl Reiner, as well as designing an ingenious set that serves the play well.
The talented cast features Jason Carubia, Marta T. Coppola, Dana DiCerto, Andrea Garmun, Bob Gilmore, Max Solomon Helfand, Bob Lasprogato, Bobby Pavia, Wayne Riemer, Alex Weston, E. Rochelle Woodson, and in a bit of art imitating life, Will Jeffries as the director-within-the-play and Tim Cronin doing double duty as the real Production Stage Manager as well as performing as Pike, the "Enter Laughing" play-within-a-play stage manager. Produced by Diana Lawrence Mashia, the production's inventive lighting design is by Jeff Klein.Videos
