WAR OF THE WORLDS 75th Anniversary Event invades Theater Barn!
When War of the Worlds premiered in 1938, it was a bit too realistic for many listeners, who didn't realize the periodic "news" bulletins were part of the entertainment. The following day CBS Radio was flooded with complaints from loyal audience members who went from being frightened to feeling foolish. It was a turning point for radio and for the relatively unknown star of the play, Orson Welles. In honor of the 75th Anniversary of the original airing, the Theater Barn is staging this historical radio play in a special two-night event, Wednesday, October 30th and Saturday, November 2nd at 7:30pm.
Directed by Jeff Howard and produced by Marla Manning, the staged reading will be presented much the same way the broadcast was originally produced in 1938 and is sure to intrigue audiences.
Seating is theater style and tickets are $15. For reservations or more information, visit www.ridgefieldtheaterbarn.org.
