Vintage Players will present a staged reading of THE WALTZ, a spellbinding new play based on the life and artistic times of Camille Claudel, written by & starring Broadway's Carolyn Kirsch, on Saturday, May 9.

This original work explores the life of Camille Claudel, French sculptress of the early 20th Century.... her tempestuous relationship with sculptor Auguste Rodin; her friendship with Debussy; her ongoing struggle as a woman to be recognized in the male dominated world of Parisian Art Salons. And ultimately, the question of why she spent the last 30 years of her life in an asylum. Did she truly descend into madness?

Carolyn Kirsch is a veteran of more than 15 Broadway shows over a 21 year period of working in theatre in New York City and beyond. Her many credits include the original companies of A CHORUS LINE (Theatre World Award), CHICAGO (with Bob Fosse), COCO (starring Katharine Hepburn), among countless others. Joining Ms. Kirsch on stage will be Jill Giles, Debra Walsh, Nancy Wolfe, Jane McMillan and Phil Rittner at the piano. The piece will be underscored by the music of Claude Debussy. Christopher Hoyt will be lighting designer.

This one-night-only reading will performed at Oddfellows Playhouse, 128 Washington Street, Middletown. Curtain time is 7:30 p.m. Admission price is $25.00 and all proceeds will be donated to Oddfellows Playhouse for the continuation of their children's programs.

Tickets may be obtained by contacting Jane McMillan at (860) 716-6716 or janesmcmillan@snet.net

Refreshments will be served at intermission. Wine, soft drinks, and sweets.
