TriArts Sharon Playhouse (Sharon, CT) will present a reading of the new musical Loving Leo Wednesday night, August 10 at 7:30 PM in its Bok Gallery. Admission is $5. and no advance reservation is necessary. The reading is part of their 2011 New Works Readings and Concerts Series, which has included Whiskey Songs (by Joe Iconis) and When We Met (Music/ Lyrics by Julianne Wick Davis, Book by Dan Collins). Artistic Director John Simpkins oversees the summer series.
Michael Winther (33 Variations, Songs from an Unmade Bed) and Farah Alvin (Nine, The Marvelous Wonderettes) star in Loving Leo, which is directed by Jeremy Dobrish. The show has book/ lyrics by Sara Cooper and music by Zach Redler - who collaborated on The Memory Show at Barrington Stage (and coming to Off- Broadway in 2012). Writers bill Loving Leo as "A childless middle-aged couple (Lena and David) has lived comfortably in their one-bedroom apartment in the Bronx for their entire marriage. But after the death of Lena's mother, the couple takes in Lena's distant stepfather Leo, and suddenly the little cracks in their marriage become huge, gaping holes."
TriArts is currently running the hit musical Hairspray through August 21 on its mainstage.

TriArts Sharon Playhouse (Alice Bemand, Executive Director; Michael Berkeley and John Simpkins, Artistic Directors) is theatre by and for everyone. It is a "teaching theatre" (like a "teaching hospital") designed to further the growth of artists, both onstage and offstage. Novice actors of all ages are trained and mentored, experienced actors find opportunities to enhance their careers and emerging writers showcase their work. It is a professional theatre -- producing quality musicals with Broadway caliber talent. It is a place where musical theatre is celebrated and tomorrow's generation of actors and audiences is born.
