When a husband and wife don't communicate, they sometimes end up finding out surprising - even shocking - things about one other. That's the premise of The Problem by AR Gurney, one of the plays featured in Town Players' HOT AUGUST NIGHTS - ONE ACTS, running tonight, July 31 - August 8.

In addition to The Problem, the production also includes The Proposal by Anton Chekhov; Porch by Jack Heifner; Wanted for Dinner, an original play written by Newtown resident Elizabeth Young; and Lovely Letters, an original play written by Bethel resident Michael Giuliano.

"This production has something for everyone," says producer Nick Kaye of Bethel. "Laughter, touching moments, family discord. It's one of the advantages of producing a night of one acts. People love variety. We're also excited about the opportunity to feature works by local playwrights, as well as to welcome new actors to our stage, which is all part of the community theater experience."

Directors for HOT AUGUST NIGHTS - ONE ACTS are Sherry Asch of Brewster, NY; Timothy Huebenthal of Southbury; Terry Polvay of Sandy Hook; and Terry Sagedy of Newtown. The production features the talents of Sherry Asch of Brewster, NY; Sam Bass of Brookfield; Bryn Berg of Westbrook; Sherri Bresson of Bethel; Shawn Brown of Danbury; Bryelle Burgus of Putnam Valley, NY; Christopher Cooney of Monroe; Brian DeToma of Danbury; Miles Everett of Thomaston; Jennifer Ju of Milford; Pam Meister of Newtown; Roberto Perez of Danbury; and Danette Riso of Redding.

HOT AUGUST NIGHTS - ONE ACTS runs July 31 - August 8. Curtain times are 8 PM Fridays and Saturdays, with one 2 PM Sunday matinee on August 2. Tickets for this special night of entertainment are just $18; $10 children 10 and under for all performances. Please note that this production may not be considered suitable for younger children.
