TheatreWorks New Milford will be celebrating their fiftieth anniversary this year with their annual fundraiser event "Cocktails & Cabaret" on Sunday, August 27 at 19 Main, located on "the green" in New Milford. The event begins with cocktails at 4 pm followed by a Cabaret show of songs and scenes from their fifty year history. TheatreWorks welcomes back some familiar faces and voices as well as new performers.

The organization's President, Christine Daley, says, "Our annual Cocktails & Cabaret event is the brainchild of lifelong New Milford resident, Ted Hine, who has been a huge supporter of TheatreWorks over the years. Mr. Hine recognizes the economic and cultural impact of keeping theater alive in New Milford and the surrounding area and I agree that it is beyond measure. Also, the building's historical significance cannot be overlooked, with a roof that is in desperate need of repair. We also hope to add solar panels next year in an effort to become more environmentally-friendly."

Joining Mr. Hine in sponsoring roles this year are Tillie Paige Laird, Madeline & Stephen Anbinder, CohnReznick LLP, Norman Adler & Michele Shackelford, Diane & Marty Gucker, June Baldyga, Candlewood Valley Motors, the Law Office of Cecilia Buck-Taylor, Linda & Thomas Sprick, Angela & Joseph Barna, Mrs. Marilyn Lieff, John Lundin and Gary Trible.

Tickets are $75.00, and sponsorships are still available. Sponsors will receive tickets to the event as well as various levels of publicity benefits based on the role.

Event proceeds will benefit the theater's Building Fund, designated for ongoing maintenance and upgrades that ticket sales alone cannot cover. The theatre building is a historic church built in 1901.

To join in the fun, TheatreWorks is asking everyone to dress in their favorite semi-formal red, white and/or black attire. Tickets can be purchased online beginning on August 1 at http://theatreworks.us or call Mary at 860-350-6863.
