TheatreWorks New Milford held its Annual Cocktails & Cabaret Fundraiser on Sunday, August 27 at 19 Main, located on "the green" in New Milford.

The event began with a cocktail hour where the organization's president, Christine Daley, welcomed guests, thanked this year's sponsors and gave a brief background about the historic building TheatreWorks has inhabited since 1972. The bell that formerly hung in the theatre's cupola when it was an Adventist Church was on display at the event, and Daley told the tale of its significance dating back to the 1700's. This was followed by a presentation of commendation to Ms. Daley and TheatreWorks by New Milford Mayor David Gronbach.

TheatreWorks also received recognition from the State of Connecticut for their fifty year achievement.

Additionally, TheatreWorks had received word that day that they were awarded "Best Small Theater in Connecticut 2017" by Connecticut Magazine.

Festivities continued with a Cabaret show of songs and scenes from their fifty year history featuring a slideshow by Viv Berger and performers Roger Grace, Priscilla Squiers, Christine Daley, Joe Harding, Tommy Ovitt, Jillian Caillouette, John Bolster, Matt Austin, Vicki Sosbe, Francis A Daley, and Carey Van Hollen and JoNathan Jacobson with a preview of I Do! I Do! which opens on Friday September 22.

Ms. Daley was extremely pleased with the turnout and outcome of the event, which was organized by TheatreWorks administrator Mary Kimball and Board Members Beth Plotkin and Jane Farnol.

"We are thrilled by the recognition by the community and that we will now be able to repair our roof and pursue the addition of solar panels to reduce our carbon footprint. I am very grateful to Mayor Gronbach and our very generous board members and sponsors who make these initiatives possible, in addition to our continuing goal of adding a second floor bathroom on theatre level by 2020," Daley added.

TheatreWorks is an award-winning, non-Equity theatre company, recently named Best Small Theater in Connecticut 2017 by Connecticut Magazine. TheatreWorks is located at 5 Brookside Avenue, just off Route 202 (next to the CVS), in New Milford, CT.
