Before it was a musical, SUNSET BOULEVARD was an award-winning film, and TheatreWorks New Milford is proud to present a rare opportunity to see the film's classic screenplay performed live in a free staged reading on Thursday, March 18 at 8PM. The reading will be followed by a wine and cheese reception.
The setting is 1950s Hollywood. Norma Desmond, a faded silent-screen star has become a recluse, shuttered in a crumbling mansion where she lives with only her faithful and steadfast butler, Max. She is obsessed with the idea of a comeback to pictures, and begins a relationship with Joe Gillis, a down-on-his-luck writer looking for his big break, that will end with one of the most infamous scenes in film history.
The cast includes: JUde Callirgos Robinson (Redding), James Hipp (Danbury), Jim Lones (Oxford), Jacqueline Decho-Holm (New Milford) and John Taylor (Sherman)
SUNSET BOULEVARD is under the direction of Joseph Russo of New Milford.
The event is free, but reservations must be made by calling (860) 350-6863 or by visiting the website at www.theatreworks.us.
TheatreWorks is an award-winning, professional non-Equity theatre company located on 5 Brookside Avenue, just off Route 202 (next to the CVS), in New Milford, CT.
