TheatreWorks Kids registration is now open for four brand-new fall programs for area youths. INDIVIDUAL VOCAL LESSONS with professional Zoe Vandermeer will begin on Tuesday September 17 for 10 weeks. Students will learn how to breathe for singing, improve their range, develop strength, power and flexibility in their voice, and gain confidence through a step by step training method that is clear, concise and reliable. Ms. Vandermeer has 23 years of experience as a voice teacher and specializes in training children, actors, speakers, and those in need of vocal rehabilitation. A TW KIDS OPEN HOUSE is scheduled for Saturday October 5 from 10:00am to 11:30am to provide students with a sampling of what our programs for kids ages 7 to 15 has to offer. in this 90 minute "teaser," Amy Emke will introduce all aspects of performance arts such as acting, singing, and movement through instruction and theatre games. Ms. Emke most recently directed our very successful production of You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown this past summer. ADMISSION IS FREE for this open house, but registration is required.On Saturday October 19, we will begin an exciting eight-week program on Saturdays and Mondays entitled SHAKESPEARE SMACKDOWN! Students ages 7 and up will learn acting techniques and improvisational skills which also include scene study from some of Shakespeare's greatest plays. Sense-memory techniques, character development and an introduction to the Bard will also be included using theatre games and hands-on activities. The program will culminate in a performance on Sunday Dec 15 and the fee is $350.00.
Back by popular demand, and just in time for local high school auditions, our one-day TRIPLE THREAT INTENSIVE is offered to older kids ages 12-21. With Broadway professionals Ben Simpson, two time Tony Award nominee Robin De Jesus, Dan Micciche, and Caley Crawford we will offer a unique opportunity to focus on the three key performance "weapons" - singing, acting, dancing - or what is commonly known in the trade as the "Triple Threat." A performance of what was learned will be held at the end of this workshop. The fee for this workshop is $125.00.
