TheaterWorks announced today a partnership with Hartford Consortium for Higher Education to provide FREE STUDENT RUSH TICKETS for all student members. The Hartford Consortium includes member schools, Capital Community College, Central Connecticut State University, Charter Oak State College, Goodwin College, Hartford Seminary, Manchester Community College, University of Saint Joseph, St. Thomas Seminary, Trinity College, UCONN Hartford and University of Hartford. Free Student Rush Tickets - all free, all the time - are available at the door an hour prior to performance based on availability. FREE STUDENT RUSH TICKETS will be available throughout the season for all performances.
"We could not be more excited and encouraged about this partnership", remarked Dr. Martin Estey, executive director of the 46-year-old Hartford Consortium. When we started the "Hartford as a College Town" initiative three years ago, our collaboration with TheaterWorks is exactly the type of robust, meaningful engagement we envisioned between our students and faculty and our neighbors in the community."
Rob Ruggiero, TheaterWorks Producing Artistic Director said "Students make great audiences. We're interested in building a sustainable relationship with the Hartford Consortium because we believe it's important for students to have access to the conversations and community that are generated in the theater. It's a singular experience, enhances quality of life and plays an important role in building strong communities and strong minds."
In partnership with Fox 61's Hope Night initiative, TheaterWorks hosted Consortium staff, faculty and students Thursday February 22 for a pre-show reception and conversation about Choice, Opportunity and Education followed by a performance of CONSTELLATIONS. Artistic Associate
Taneisha Duggan moderated the conversation, which included panelists Dr. Zulma Toro, President CCSU, HCHE, Richard Sugarman, President, The Hartford Promise, Liam Andrian, Trinity College HCHE; and Nick St. Sauveur UCONN-Hartford, HCHE.
TheaterWorks also offers an ALL FREE Student Matinee the first Saturday in the run of each production. These seats are available to students and faculty throughout the state of Connecticut and can be reserved ahead of time by calling the box office at
860.527.7838. The next ALL FREE Student Matinee is Saturday, March 24, at 2:30 pm. #
