MAIN STAGE SEASON

SHREK THE MUSICAL

Book & Lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire Music by Jeanine Tesori

July 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 27, 31 and August 1 & 2, 2014

Based on the Oscar winning DreamWorks film that started it all, this wonderful show brings the hilarious story of everyone's favorite ogre to dazzling new life on the stage. In a faraway kingdom turned upside down, things get ugly when an unseemly ogre - not a handsome prince - shows up to rescue a feisty princess. Throw in a donkey who won't shut up, a bad guy with a SHORT temper, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you've got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there's one on hand...and his name is Shrek! It's part romance, part twisted fairy tale and all irreverent fun for everyone!

NO SEX PLEASE, WE'RE BRITISH

By Anthony Marriott and Alistair Foot

September 19, 20, 21, 25, 26, 27 & 28, 2014

A young bride, married to an assistant bank manager, innocently sends a mail order for some Scandinavian glassware. What comes is Scandinavian pornography. What's to be done with this veritable flood of pornography, photos, books, films and eventually girls that threaten to engulf this happy couple? Things are complicated when the man's mother, boss, a visiting bank inspector, a police superintendent, and a muddled friend become involved. A classic British comedy that delighted both London and Broadway audiences.

A NICE FAMILY GATHERING

By Phil Olson

November 7, 8, 9, 13, 14, 15 & 16, 2014

It's Thanksgiving Day and the first family gathering at the Lundeen household since the Patriarch died. At the gathering, Dad comes back as a ghost with a mission; to tell his wife he loved her, something he neglected to tell her while he was alive. After all, they were only married for 41 years. The problem is, she can't hear or see him. The trouble really begins when Mom invites a date for dinner. Winner! 2000 Rochester Playwright Festival.

THE NERD

By Larry Shue

February 13, 14, 15, 19, 20, 21 & 22, 2015

If you loved The Foreigner, you will really love The Nerd. One of the funniest plays ever written, this extraordinarily inventive, side-splitting comedy was first presented by the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, then produced in Great Britain and then went on to Broadway. The action centers on the hilarious dilemma of a young architect who is visited by a man he's never met but who saved his life in Vietnam-the visitor turning out to be an incredibly inept, hopelessly stupid "nerd" who outstays his welcome with a vengeance.

ALWAYS, PATSY CLINE

By Ted Swindley

March 27, 28, 29 and April 9, 10, 11 & 12, 2015

Patsy's back by popular demand! Don't miss your second chance to see Laura LaCour on the WTG stage portraying country music legend Patsy Cline, along with her "number one fan" Louise played by Robin Rice. Enjoy 27 unforgettable hits such as "I go to Pieces", "Sweet Dreams" and "Walking after Midnight." This endearing true story combines humor with sincerity and gives fans a chance to remember the most acclaimed female vocalist of the 20th century. Float away to the 50's and 60's and go "Crazy" for Patsy once more.

ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST

By Dale Wasserman, adapted from the novel by Ken Kesey

May 29, 30, 31 and June 4, 5, 6 & 7, 2015

A charming rogue contrives to serve a short sentence in an airy mental institution rather than in a prison. This, he learns, was a mistake as he clashes with the head nurse. Quickly, he takes over the yard and accomplishes what the medical profession has been unable to do for twelve years; he makes a presumed deaf and dumb Indian talk. He leads others out of introversion, stages a revolt so that they can see the World Series on television, and arranges a rollicking midnight party with liquor and chippies. All this leads to a shocking end. Winner of the 2001 Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Revival.
