It's the brassy, bright and promising year of 1959. Boston's Colonial Theatre is host to the opening night performance of a new musical. When the leading lady mysteriously dies on stage the entire cast & crew are suspects. Enter a local detective, who just happens to be a musical theatre fan!
All roles are open to audition. We are seeking an ensemble cast of 36 performers for this production – ideally 11 Men and 6 Women plus Ensemble. Auditioners must bring sheet music with them and be prepared to sing 32 bars, but no more than one minute, of a fully memorized Broadway-style musical selection that showcases their vocal range. Auditioners should mark their selection with a highlighter. If your audition selection is from CURTAINS (and singing from the show is preferred for these auditions) no sheet music will be required – we will have copies available. An accompanist will be provided. A cappella singing, instrumentals on CD, Tape, iPod, MP3 Player or digital recorder will not be allowed. Auditioners may also be asked to read from the script.
Rehearsals will be held on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Not all cast members will be called for every rehearsal and the schedule is subject to change with advance notification. There will be one midweek rehearsal on Wednesday, January 30th. If you are unable to make all the performances and the midweek rehearsal, we will be unable to cast you in this production.
