The Shakespeare Academy @ Stratford is a six-week theater and performance program that uniquely combines the study of Shakespeare's text, contemporary ensemble training, and the opportunity to rehearse and perform in two of Shakespeare's plays in repertory.
SA@S is seeking a diverse ensemble from a wide range of experiences and backgrounds. Students entering college, attending college, as well as recent college graduates may apply. The deadline to apply is April 1.
This year's shows are MEASURE FOR MEASURE (Artistic Director Brian McManamon) and THE TEMPEST (Guest Director Jessi D. Hill).
SA@S is a program of the Mighty Quinn Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the educational and artistic experiences of young men and women. As a project of The Mighty Quinn Foundation, SA@S honors the passion for learning and love of theater of Quinn Rooney, a Stratford resident who passed away from a rare form of brain cancer in 2012 at age 19. It was Quinn's wish to see Shakespeare study and performance revived in his hometown.
The Foundation will award scholarships, known as the Quinn Rooney Shakespeare Scholarships, to select students attending the program this year.
The program runs June 26-Aug. 7 on the grounds and buildings of the former American Shakespeare Festival Theater in Stratford, CT, with shows performed in rotating rep July 29- Aug. 6. Tuition is $3,750 and includes all training, materials, master classes, and workshops. Housing in the local community is provided.

NOTE: Though the program is located in Connecticut, applications are accepted from around the country and internationally.
