The Hartt School Presents Lions Gate Trio, 4/3

The Lions Gate Trio, Hartt's trio-in-residence, performs on Tuesday, April 3, at 7:30 PM, in Millard Auditorium, University of Hartford, 200 Bloomfield Avenue, West Harford. Admission is free. Lions Gate Trio includes cellist Darrett Adkins, pianist Florence Millet, and violinist Katie Lansdale. The Trio performs Beethoven's Trio Op. 70 No. 2, Dvorak's Trio No. 1 in B Flat, and a new work by Elena Kats-Cherbin entitled "Gypsy Ramble."

The Lions Gate Trio, an internationally acclaimed ensemble in both the United States and Europe, enjoys a combination of performing, recording, and working with young musicians in educational settings. In addition to their diverse and acclaimed solo performances and other collaborations, each member of the Lions Gate Trio is a highly respected teacher, collectively holding faculty positions at the Cologne Hochschule in Wuppertal, Germany; The Juilliard School; Oberlin Conservatory of Music; and The Hartt School. Having served residencies at Tanglewood, Yale University, and the University of Pittsburgh, the Lions Gate Trio currently is the trio-in-residence both at The Hartt School and at the Fairfield Library in Connecticut.

The Hartt School is the comprehensive performing arts school of the University of Hartford that offers innovative degree programs in music, dance, and theatre. Founded in 1920, Hartt has been an integral part of the University of Hartford since its charter merged the then Hartt School of Music, the Hartford Art School, and Hillyer College to create the University in 1957. 2010 markEd Hartt's 90th year of providing world class performing arts education to students in Greater-Hartford and around the world.
