The Custom House presents 'Third Thursday' - a 2-part program, this Thursday, June 17, at 6:30 PM. First, John Neikrash, a Noank lobsterman and founder of 'Work Vessels for Veterans; tells the story of this ambitions 2-year-old program to assist vets. The second part will be comprised of the Members of the Thames America's Cup Committee: John Johnson, Frank McLaughlin, and Joe Passero. They will speak about their strategy to bring the America's Cup race to New London in 2012.

Perhaps it is a long shot, but the America's Cup race has a long history with New London. The winner of the first America's Cup race, in 1870, sailing for the New York Yacht Club, was the Magic designed by R. F. Loper of Stoningtonand and skippered by A. J. Comstock of New London.

Admission is free for members and $8 for all others. Call 860-447-2501 for info.
