The dreary weather was uncharacteristic for a Saturday in May, but that didn't stop guests of the 19th Annual Mayor's Charity Ball from having a lavish night out at the West Hartford Town Hall and under the Grande Tent!
The cocktail hour and silent auction were the perfect start to the evening. Signature seasonal cocktails accompanied an array of delicious hors d'oeuvres crafted by DORO Catering & Events, who brought with them an accommodating, friendly and professional staff. Students from the Hartt School Community Division and Conard Jazz Combo provided the perfect background music including standards and upbeat tunes.
Guests moved into the "Grande Tent", provided by Charity Ball Sponsor Taylor Rental, and were treated to a performance from Playhouse on Park's resident dance company, stop/time dance theater. Mayor Shari Cantor thanked guests for their support, as proceeds from the event were given to The Town That Cares and Playhouse on Park.
WFSB Channel 3 anchors Dennis House and Kara Sundlun served as emcees. After an elegant meal of smoked New York strip steak and sea bass, once again provided by DORO Catering & Events, professional auctioneer Gary Katz led an exciting live auction. To finish out the evening, Localmotion's live band played classic high-energy music from Bruno Mars to Michael Jackson, and select guests stayed on the dance floor until the clock struck midnight. Over $60,000 was raised for The Town That Cares and Playhouse on Park.
