Get ready for a non-stop musical blast from the past as the Castle Craig Players present THE MARVELOUS WONDERETTES for two weeks only - May 5-14 - at their intimate Meriden venue!
This smash Off-Broadway musical hit, written & created by Roger Bean, takes you to the 1958 Springfield High School prom where we meet Betty Jean, Cindy Lou, Missy, and Suzy - four girls with hopes and dreams as big as their crinoline skirts! As we learn about their lives and loves, the girls serenade us with classic hits including "Lollipop," "Dream Lover," "Mister Sandman," and "Lipstick on Your Collar." Featuring over 30 iconic '50s and '60s tunes, THE MARVELOUS WONDERETTES will keep you smiling in this must-take musical trip down memory lane!
"This show is so much more than a jukebox musical," said director Ian Galligan, "it's an homage to an era that gave us some of the most memorable music in American history." Audiences can expect a nostalgic evening, laced with plenty of crinoline, at this hysterically funny, feel-good musical.
The cast features local favorites Jessica Engster (Betty Jean), Jennifer Del Sole (Cindy Lou), Emma Czaplinski (Missy) and Chelsea Dacey (Suzy). The creative team includes music direction by Mark Ceppetelli, choreography by original Wonderette cast member Bets Malone, with additional choreography by Chelsea Dacey, costume design by Daniel Schmidt, wig design by Joel Silvesti, lighting design by Dusty Radar and stage management by Pamela Amodio.
