On September 16, The Sherman Playhouse will debut Enid Bagnold's comedy-drama, The Chalk Garden.
The Chalk Garden is a psychological chamber piece that explores the secret world of childhood through the prism of a dyed-in-the-wool British dowager, Mrs. St. Maugham, and her precocious and equally eccentric granddaughter, Laurel. When enigmatic Miss Madrigal is hired as household companion and manager, the two finally meet their match.
The production features a talented cast of area actors: Jody Bayer (Danbury), Carey Van Hollen (Southbury), Noel Desiato and John Taylor (both Sherman), Erin Shaughnessy and Charles Roth (both New Milford).
The Chalk Garden is under the direction of Chesley Plemmons of Sherman.
