Summer Place Players Announces Summer 2010 Program 6/28 - 8/1

Summer Place Players announces its five-week Summer 2010 program, scheduled from June 28th to August 1st, Monday through Friday, in the University of Hartford's state-of-the-art Handel Performing Arts Center. Recent alumni of the musical theatre summer camp have appeared on Broadway and at noted regional theatres such as Hartford Stage and Goodspeed Musicals. Others have been accepted at some of the country's finest professional training programs.

In addition to rehearsing the featured production, THE PAJAMA GAMES, each day offers workshops in singing, dancing, and acting technique. There is even a daily trip to the university's outdoor pool for those who want a little outdoor fun. Bus transportation is available from several locations in the greater Hartford region. Recent alumni of the program include Andrew Shipman, currently on Broadway in Mary Poppins; Joy Del Valle who is appearing in Annie Get Your Gun at Goodspeed, and Jacob Entenmen who has played major roles at Hartford Stage in To Kill a Mockingbird and A Christmas Carol.

Under the leadership of Artistic Director Robert H. Davis, also a Hartt faculty member, the Summer Place Players program is open to students entering 6th grade through senior year of high school and features an extraordinary experience of what it means to be a performer in musical theatre. Davis is a professor of acting and voice in The Hartt School's highly regarded music theatre training program and is known to area audiences for his numerous performances at Hartford Stage including annual appearances as Bob Cratchit in A Christmas Carol. The Players staff includes other faculty from The Hartt School as well as teachers from various schools in the region. College age interns from professional training programs provide role models for program participants.
