On Thursday, June 30 at 8pm, theWarner Theatre will come alive with the sound of banjo & bluegrass provided by Emmy & Grammy Award Winning actor, comedian, writer, playwright, producer, musician and composer, Steve Martin, along with bluegrass band, the Steep Canyon Rangers.
Martin began playing the banjo in 1962 with the help of friend John McCuen, who eventually joined the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Over the years he used the banjo in his comedy and although he may still be better known as an actor and a comedian , these days Martin's best seen as what he's been since he was a kid: a picker writing tunes.
His first CD,The Crow/New Songs for the Five-String Banjo won the 2010 Best Bluegrass Album Grammy. His next album,Rare Bird Alertwas released on March 15 and, in addition to the Steep Canyon Rangers, includes guests the Dixie Chicks and Paul McCartney.
His June 30 performance will include songs from this album, as well as a bluegrass renditions of some of his previous hits (King Tut).
