Stephen Schwartz, Michael Gennaro & Geoffrey Walsky Set for STATE OF THE ARTS on WPKN This Week

Stephen Schwartz, Michael Gennaro and Geoffrey Walsky will headline this week's (April 1) State of the ARTS, heard LIVE every Friday from 12noon to 1pm on WPKN-FM (89.5) in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Co-hosts of the weekly arts & entertainment show are Richard Pheneger and Peggy Nelson.

The Ridgefield Playhouse will present An Evening with Stephen Schwartz, one of the most prolific Broadway composer/lyricists of our time - as he's interviewed by the ASCAP Director of Musical Theatre, Michael Kerker, in an "Inside the Actors Studio" -style event. Interwoven throughout the evening will be performances by the stars of Schwartz' hit Broadway musical Wicked with Lindsay Mendez who played Elphaba, Kara Lindsay who played Glinda, and Derek Klena who played Fiyero. A Evening with Stephen Schwartz is scheduled at the Ridgefield Playhouse on Saturday. April 2 (2016) at 8pm.

Michael Gennaro is the Executive Director of the two-time Tony Award-winning Goodspeed Musicals in East Haddam, Connecticut. Acknowledged as a highly successful leader of several of the most prominent theatrical institutions in America including the Paper Mill Playhouse in New Jersey, Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago and Trinity Repertory Theatre in Providence, Rhode Island, Gennaro has brought his unique personal story to Goodspeed Musicals and a lifetime of involvement in musical theatre. The 2016 Goodspeed Musicals season opens April 8 (2016) with Anything Goes.

Geoffrey Walsky, owner/operator of Norwalk's Fairfield County Antique & Design Center, will talk about the current special exhibit "In Bed with Marilyn," which features works of photographer Bert Stern at the Design Center's Greenwich location at 45 East Putnam Ave. This exhibit is co-hosted by Hästens. Additional imagery of Marilyn Monroe will be at 21-23 East Putnam Avenue, Greenwich, CT

State of the ARTS, featuring arts and entertainment personalities, airs LIVE each Friday from 12noon-1pm on WPKN-FM located at 89.5 and streams worldwide online at wpkn.org.
