Square One Theatre's second production of its 24th Anniversary Season is Time Stands Still, by the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Donald Margulies, described as warm, funny and humane and is acknowledged as one of his best plays.

Directed by Tom Holehan, Time Stands Still, opens Friday, February 28 and continues Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through Saturday, March 15 at Square One Theatre's home base, the Stratford Theatre located at 2422 Main Street in Stratford, Connecticut.

Time Stands Still concerns Sarah and James, a photographer and a journalist, respectively. They have been together for nine years and share a passion for documenting the realities of war, but when injuries force them to return home to New York and their circle of friends, the adventurous couple confronts the prospect of a more conventional life.

The challenges facing photographer Sarah (Janet Rathert) and her partner, journalist James (David Victor) seem clear enough. But, a visit from their good friend Richard (Pat Leo), and his new, much younger girlfriend, Mandy (Alisson Wood) telegraphs just how markedly Sarah's sensibility differs from theirs. The play explores the relationships between two different couples at a crucial juncture in each of their lives, when the desire to move forward clashes with the instinct to stay comfortably - or even uncomfortably - in place. According to playwright Margulies, another theme threads itself throughout this play...the role of the artist-observer and the conundrum in finding himself or herself isolated from others.

Pat Leo's Square One credits include Distracted, Ancestral Voices, ART, Love Letters, Moonlight & Magnolias, Rumors, QED, Later Life, Absent Friends, and A Walk in the Woods, among numerous others. His Square One Subscribers Awards include Outstanding Actor for QED and Later Life.

Janet Rathert's Square One credits includes Black Tie, Ancestral Voices, The Mousetrap and The Right Kind of People. Additional credits include Mixed Couples, (Westport Community Theatre) and Dancing at Lughnasa (Eastbound Theatre).

David Victor appeared in Square One's Black Tie, Ancestral Voices, Irena's Vow, The Right Kind of People and The Clearing for which he received a Square One Subscriber Award for Outstanding Actor. Other credits include Mixed Couples, Hound of the Baskervilles, A Few Good Men and The Best Man (Westport Community Theatre).

Alisson Wood made her Square One debut in Irena's Vow and later appeared in Black Tie, for which she was awarded a Square One Subscriber Award for Outstanding Featured Actress. Credits with other theatres include The Rocky Horror Show, Six Degrees of Separation (Playhouse on the Green) A Civil War Christmas, A Midsummer Night's Dream (New Haven Theatre Company) and Rent (Bridgeport Theatre Company), among others.

Playwright Donald Margulies received the 2000 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for Dinner with Friends. In addition to Times Stands Still, his many plays includesShipwrecked! An Entertainment - The Amazing Adventures of Louis de Rougemont (as told by himself), Sight Unseen, Collected Stories, God of Vengeance (based on the Yiddish classic by Sholem Asch), Two Days; The Model Apartment; The Lowman Family Picnic and What's Wrong With This Picture? among many others.
