With only two months before the curtain goes up on Westport Country Playhouse's 2016 Season, single tickets will go on sale, beginning Tuesday, March 1, and will be offered at a 25% discount for that day only. The limited, 24-hour offer cannot be combined with other discounts. Single tickets may be purchased by phone at 203-227-4177 and in person at 25 Powers Court, Westport, between 12 and 6 p.m.; or online at westportplayhouse.org between 12:01 a.m. and 11:59 p.m.

The Playhouse's 2016 Season, playing from May through October, features dramas---one about the art market, another about the financial market---as well as comedies---one on fame and friendship, another filled with sexual innuendo and slamming doors. The season culminates with a new take on a classic musical. Among the shows marking the Playhouse's 85th anniversary year are those that won Tony Awards and a Lucille Lortel Award. They also feature composers who earned Tonys, and a playwright who garnered a Pulitzer Prize.

Single tickets start at $30. Prices are subject to change based on availability; buy early for the best prices. Student tickets are $20 for any performance with valid i.d. Senior citizens are eligible for 25% discounts; educators for 50% discounts at all performances. Traditional season tickets continue on sale offering savings, best available seating, restaurant discounts, and patron flexibility, including a choice of five-play or four-play options. Flex Passes are also on sale, providing date flexibility and many subscriber-only benefits.

Westport Country Playhouse's 2016 Season includes two Tony Award-winning plays staged in repertory, directed by Mark Lamos, from May 3 to 29: "Art" by Yasmina Reza, translated by Christopher Hampton; and "Red" by John Logan. Each of the plays is about art: making it, owning it, the anguish of creating it, and the ache of believing in it. The two plays will alternate daily.

The recent Off-Broadway comedy hit, "Buyer and Cellar" by Jonathan Tolins, is about a young, out-of-work actor who winds up working for a well-known star named Barbra in the mall she built in her Malibu mansion, playing June 14 - July 3. The comedy won the Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Solo Show.

Another recent Off-Broadway piece, "The Invisible Hand," a riveting and relevant new thriller by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Ayad Akhtar, author of Broadway's "Disgraced," will run July 19 - August 6, directed by David Kennedy, Playhouse associate artistic director. When an American futures trader finds himself kidnapped and held hostage in Pakistan, he knows the only way to get home is to do what he does best: play the market like his life depends on it.

Joe Orton's comedy, "What the Butler Saw," offering a little blackmail, and a lot of sexual innuendo, will play from August 23 - September 10, directed by John Tillinger, who helmed a recent, critically acclaimed production of the play in Los Angeles.

Lerner and Loewe's "Camelot," a freshly inventive take on one of the foremost musicals in the American canon, will run October 4 - 30, directed by Mark Lamos. The classic love triangle of King Arthur, Queen Guinevere, and Sir Lancelot will be a reimagined version.
