The Sherman Playhouse is seeking four women, ages 30 to 75 and seven men, ages 30 to 75 for its premiere show of the 2011 Season, THE BAD SEED, by Maxwell Anderson.
THE BAD SEED takes place in a small southern town where the Penmarks live with their daughter, Rhoda. On the surface she is sweet, charming, full of old-fashionEd Graces, loved by her parents, and admired by all her elders. But Rhoda's mother has an uneasy feeling about her. When one of Rhoda's schoolmates is mysteriously drowned at a picnic, Mrs. Penmark is alarmed. For the boy who was drowned was the winner of the penmanship medal that Rhoda felt she deserved. What follows is a classic, spellbinding thriller filled with unexpected twists and turns.
THE BAD SEED is under the direction of Jane Farnol of Gaylordsville.
Auditions will be held Sunday, February 27 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Monday, February 28, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. All auditions will take place at The Sherman Playhouse, located at 5 Route 39 North (the intersection of Route 37 and 39), in Sherman, Conn.
Auditions will consist of readings from the script. No appointments are necessary. All roles are available and both professionals and amateurs are welcome.

Rehearsals begin in March with performances running from April 22 to May 14 on Fridays and Saturdays with two Sunday Matinees on May 1 and May 8.
