Shakespeare's most intense and terrifying tragedy, Macbeth, directed by Rufus Norris (The Threepenny Opera, London Road), will see Rory Kinnear (Young Marx, Othello) and Anne-Marie Duff (Oil, Suffragette) return to the National Theatre of London to play Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. In the ruined aftermath of a bloody civil war, ruthlessly fighting to survive, the Macbeths are propelled towards the crown by forces of elemental darkness. See the National Theatre's production of Macbeth on the big screen in HD is at The Ridgefield Playhouse Tuesday, May 22 at 6pm, part of the Benchmark Senior Living at Ridgefield Crossings Live in HD & Classical Series, underwritten by Jeanne Cook, Lori & John Berisford, Liz & Steven Goldstone, and Sabina & Walter Slavin.
The prophecy of a trio of witches, awakens the dark forces of greed and ambition inside the brave Scottish general Macbeth, and propels him and his wife on a bloody spree resulting in insanity. Shakespeare's intimate and frightening portrayal of unbound ambition is so terrifying, it's never mentioned by name within the theatre for fear of rousing evil spirits and cursing the play.
