Registration Now Open For Playhouse Theatre Academy Young Actor Workshops

Playhouse Theatre Academy is a theatre school created by Playhouse on Park offering recreational classes and pre-professional training for both children & adults. All programs, classes and workshops are held at The 224 EcoSpace, which is conveniently located for anyone in Greater Hartford area or beyond. As a supplement to the Young Actors Training Program, The Playhouse Theatre Academy is offering five-week intensive workshops. Registration is now open for:

Musical Theatre Young Actor Workshop, grades 3-8. Instructor Chris Coffey teaches this class for students who love to act, sing, and dance! This can be taken on its own or combined with one of our core classes, and the emphasis is to develop strong performance skills. As part of that goal, each student will be featured in a final performance as a singer, actor, and dancer. Join us for a full group number from a well-known Broadway musical including solo pop-outs, scene work from the show, and choreography. This class runs for five weeks only, every Wednesday from 5:30pm-7:00pm, starting on October 17.

Comedy/Improv Young Actor Workshop (grades 3-8) develops improvisation skills, where students are given vague scenarios to complete utilizing only their creative skills and knowledge of improvisation. Students will participate in Improvisation exercises, and build their skills to create their own characters and scenes. Students will often be given vague scenarios to complete utilizing only their creative skills and knowledge of improvisation. Students will learn how to be able to say "YES" in any improvisational situation. Comedy/Improv runs for five weeks only, every Wednesday from5:30pm-7:00pm, beginning on January 30, 2019.

There is a once a year $15 registration fee for each student of the Playhouse Theatre Academy. The fee for each class is $120. It is encouraged that student have prior acting experience.
