This week (Friday, July 29), Artistic Directors Kate Maguire and Mandy Greenfield, Director Tracy Brigden and actor Rajesh Bose are the featured guests on State of the ARTS which airs LIVE every Friday from 12noon to 1pm on WPKN-FM (89.5) in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Co-hosts of the weekly arts & entertainment program are Richard Pheneger with Leigh Katz, filling in for Peggy Nelson.

Tracy Brigden talks about directing her current production of Midsummer - A Play with Songs hailed as "Exhilarating...you float out laughing as if you've just swallowed sunshine on a spoon" (The Guardian). Midsummer - A Play with Songs is running now through August 21, 2016 at TheatreWorks in downtown Hartford, Connecticut.

Artistic director Kate Maguire joins the co-hosts to talk about the current season at the Berkshire Theatre Group, one of the most exciting arts organizations overseeing the development, production and presentation of theatre, music and the performing arts in both Sturbridge and Pittsfield, Massachusetts.

Rajesh Bose (inset) is featured in the cast of Pulitzer Prize-winner Ayad Akhtar's The Invisible Hand at the Westport Country Playhouse in Westport, Connecticut. One of the most produced plays in the USA, The Invisible Hand intelligently and sensitively examines such timely and pressing geopolitical subjects as terrorism, use of drones, hostages and American relationships with Muslim-majority countries. The Invisible Hand is playing now through August 6, 2016, in Westport, Connecticut.

Yale grad Mandy Greenfield, Artistic Director of the Williamstown Theatre Festival, is guiding the Tony Award-Winning theatre through another highly anticipated season of World and American premieres as well as plays by Tennessee Williams and Wendy Wasserstein. The Williamstown Theatre Festival season is running now through August 21 in Williamstown, Massachusetts.

State of the ARTS, featuring arts and entertainment personalities, airs LIVE each Friday from 12noon-1pm on WPKN-FM located at 89.5, streams worldwide online at wpkn.org and is now available via podcasts on WPKN Community Radio.
