Join Playhouse on Park in designating the Greater Hartford area as a premiere destination for the cultivation of innovative theatrical work! The Playwrights on Park Reading Series was created for this very purpose, and our next evening in this exciting series is Tuesday, September 26 at 7:30pm with Annalise Cain's What Screams I Hear Are Mine!

The mission of Playwrights on Park is to produce original plays and musicals, therefore fostering emerging and established playwrights. Each reading features a new work, where audience members participate in a talk back session with the playwright, director and cast members. Audience members are also provided with response cards at the end of each reading.

What Screams I Hear Are Mine began in sketches while Annalise was attending the Playwright's Workshop, and found its way onto strips of paper towel in her senior year of high school. She developed it at BU, and workshopped it with her peers for two years. It premiered as the Clementine Collective's production. Since then, it won the National Partners of the American Theater Award, and has been read as part of the Tribe Theater Company's Spring Reading Series.
The production introduces a fourteen-year-old girl who believes she heard a woman being raped last night. But none of the adults seem to believe her-even her older sister dismisses her. As she takes herself and those around her on a tumultuous journey to uncover the perpetrator, she must weigh which truths must be told, and which lies end up structuring her life.

Annalise Cain is a playwright and theatre artist from Western Massachusetts. In 2015, she cofounded the Clementine Theater Collective, a company dedicated to producing new work and connecting young artists. She is currently a rising senior at Boston University's School of Theater, and studies playwright, performance, and costume production. There is a talkback segment featuring the Playwright and cast after each reading. Additionally, audience members are given response cards at the end of each reading to provide feedback.

All tickets are $10 each, general admission. For tickets, please call our box office at 860-523-5900 x10, or visit www.playhouseonpark.org. Playhouse on Park is located at 244 Park Avenue, West Hartford, CT 06119.
