Playhouse on Park will delight audiences this holiday season with the musical comedy Altar Boyz, beginning December 3, 2014.

Directed and choreographed by visiting artist Kyle Brand with musical direction by Robert Tomasulo, the dance-in-your-seat show follows a fictitious faith-based pop group on the last night of their national 'Raise the Praise' tour. Teen idols, Matthew (Mark G. Merritt) "The Leader," Mark (Brandon Beaver) "The Sensitive One," Luke (Nick Bernardi) "The Bad Boy," Juan (Greg Laucella*) "The Latin Lover," and Abraham (Adam Cassel*) "The Gefelte Fish Out of Water," comprise the all-singing, all-dancing quintet from Ohio. The boy-band rocks tight harmonies and spectacular choreography to deliver 'Rhythm in Me,' 'The Calling,' 'I Believe,' and more!

From creators Marc Kessler and Ken Davenport, with music and lyrics by Gary Adler and Michael Patrick Walker, as well as an original book by Kevin Del Aguila, Altar Boyz is a foot-stomping, rafter-raising crowd-pleaser for all denominations. Two Playhouse on Park veterans, Mark G. Merritt (Television: the Oxygen network, "My Crazy Love") and Brandon Beaver (Connecticut Repertory Theatre: Newsboy, Gypsy), are joined by, Adam Cassel (National Tour: Abraham, Altar Boyz; National Tour: IQ, Hairspray), Greg Laucella (National Tour: Wickersham Brother, Seussical the Musical; TriArts Sharon Playhouse: Juan, Altar Boyz), and Nick Bernardi (International Tour: Max Von Ego, Barbie Live!: The Musical). Hartt School alumni, Director/Choreographer Kyle Brand (Paper Mill Playhouse: A Funny Thing) and Musical Director Robert Tomasulo (Playhouse on Park: The 25th Annual...Spelling Bee) lead the high-energy production.

Altar Boyz runs December 3-21. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased in person, over the phone, or online. There will be a talk back with the cast following each Sunday matinee performance and an open mic, which is open to the general public, following the Saturday, Dec 13 performance.
