Connecticut's almost annual improv festival returns for the third time to Playhouse on Park! A smorgasbord of improv groups will be performing on the same day, at the same time, at the same place in a night of unscripted fun! Two fun filled evenings will feature some of the area's best known improv groups as well as special guests Stray from New York City. The lineup also includes Hartford's own Sea Tea Improv, Conard High School's Parachute, UCONN's Horse Lincoln, and many more!
Horse Lincoln is a long form improv group that was started in September of 2008 at the University of Connecticut. They are made up of students from all class ranks and backgrounds. Horse Lincoln has won the 2009 Hole in the Wall Theater Cage Match tournament, and has performed in NYC's Del Close Marathon for improv groups.
Sea Tea Improv officially burst onto the comedy scene in 2009, and hasn't sat down since. The troupe of eleven players, trained by Hartford Stage Company and the Upright Citizens Brigade, dazzles Hartford and beyond on a regular basis with their witty, raucous interpretations of audience suggestions. Sea Tea Improv spins your weirdest and wildest thoughts into the kinds of scenes, games, and songs you've seen on Whose Line is it Anyway? and Wild n' Out. Every Sea Tea Improv show is invented entirely on the spot, so no two shows are ever the same.
Stray is a group of improvisers who play in a theatrical, narrative style that was developed in Seattle, honed in Europe, and blended in New York. Stray's unique approach creates spontaneous theatre that is comedic, dramatic, or abstract, sometimes all at once.
Improvaganza! will be presented on two nights only! Check it out on June 3rd and 4thth, 8:00pm at Playhouse on Park. All tickets are $10, general admission, and are selling fast! BYOB.
