Photo Flash: First Look at THE CHALK GARDEN at The Sherman Playhouse

On Friday, September 16, The Sherman Playhouse will debut Enid Bagnold's mysterious comedy-drama, The Chalk Garden.The curtain rises at 8:00 p.m. for a four-week run. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!

The Chalk Garden is a psychological chamber piece that explores the secret world of childhood through the prism of a dyed-in-the-wool British dowager, Mrs. St. Maugham, and her precocious and equally eccentric granddaughter, Laurel. When enigmatic Miss Madrigal is hired as household companion and manager, the two finally meet their match.

The production features a talented cast of area actors: Jody Bayer and Priscilla Squiers (both Danbury), Noel Desiato and John Taylor (both Sherman), Erin Shaughnessy, Charles Roth, Sheila Echevarria, and Lynn Nissenbaum (all New Milford).

Besides Plemmons and Bailey, the show's crew includes technical director Al Chiappetta, costumer and scenic designer Joseph Russo, and Sound Designer David White.

The Chalk Garden runs September 16,17 23,24,25 30 October 1 7,8,9 Curtain time is 8:00 p.m. Fridays & Saturdays, with 2:00 p.m. Sunday matinees on September 25 and October 9. Tickets for all shows are $22 for adults and $11 for children 12 and under.

On Thursday, September 15, all patrons are invited to attend a "Half-Price Preview Night" at 8:00 p.m. where all tickets are only $11. Students may see any performance for $11 if they pay in cash only at the door and carry a valid student ID. Students may not make reservations in advance for a performance. Reservations can be made online at shermanplayers.org or by calling the box office at (860) 354-3622.

The Sherman Playhouse is a non-Equity theatre company located at 5 Route 39 North (next to the firehouse) in Sherman, CT.
