Connecticut Repertory Theatre (CRT) presents the final production of the Nutmeg Summer Series: Newsies with Tony Award-winning score by Alan Menken and Jack Feldman. Tony Award-nominee Christopher d'Amboise will be both directing and choreographing this theatrical adaptation of the Disney movie. The cast stars Jim Schubin (Jack Kelly), Tyler Jones (Crutchie), Richard R. Henry (Joseph Pulitzer), and Tina Fabrique (Medda Larkin). BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!

Set in the heart of New York City, Newsies tells a fictionalized story inspired by the real events of the Newsboy Strike of 1899. Although rooted in the past, the show explores topical themes of social injustice, exploitive labor, and the true power the Davids of the world can wield against the Goliaths.

Director and choreographer Christopher d'Amboise has created numerous ballets for international companies alongside having written, directed, and choreographed The Studio. He began his career as a principal dancer in the New York City Ballet. d'Amboise received a Tony Award Nomination for Best Featured Actor for his performance in the Broadway cast of Song and Dance. He last choreographed My Fair Lady at Connecticut Repertory Theatre.

Winner of the 2016 Lotte Lenya Singing Competition Jim Schubin will make his CRT debut in the role of Jack Kelly. Schubin has previously been seen in the National Tour of Sound of Music, and Off-Broadway in The Fantasticks,. Regional credits include Cape Playhouse, Barrington Stage and West Virginia Public Theatre. He also had a recurring role on HBO's Boardwalk Empire.

Broadway veteran Tina Fabrique will be appearing as the eccentric Medda Larkin on the CRT stage this summer. Fabrique won the 2016 Audelco Award for Outstanding Performance in a Musical for The First Noel at the Apollo Theatre. Richard R. Henry returns to the CRT stage for the second time this summer as publishing titan Joseph Pulitzer. Henry has performed in several CRT shows, including 1776, Twelfth Night, The Sunshine Boys, and The Music Man. He recently played Sam Bick in Yale Reptertory Theatre's Assassins.

Tyler Jones will be appearing in the role of Crutchie in the Nutmeg Summer Series. Jones performed in the National Tour of Book of Mormon and was most recently seen at Connecticut's Long Wharf Theatre in the world premiere of The Most Beautiful Room in New York by Adam Gopnik and David Shire.
