This past Friday evening, the cast and crew of The Diary of Anne Frank, along with Playhouse staff, board members and friends, took the short walk down Park Road to the newest addition to the neighborhood. Park & Oak Restaurant were their gracious hosts. Chef David Borselle offered savory charcuterie, smothered chicken wings, and a fabulous meal of baked pasta finished with homemade sauce and fresh basil. The guests, over 50 in number, celebrated and toasted to a successful opening night.
This gripping adaptation of The Diary of Anne Frank weaves together newly discovered writings from the diary of Anne Frank with survivor accounts to create a contemporary, impassioned story of the lives of people persecuted under Nazi rule. The Diary of Anne Frank captures the claustrophobic realities of their daily existence - their fear, their hope, their laughter, their grief.
In addition to hosting The Diary of Anne Frank cast party, Park & Oak Restaurant is also a participant in the Playhouse on Park dining partner program. West Hartford restaurants that partner with Playhouse on Park not only experience exposure, but also an increase in their sales on performance nights. Area restaurants that host or cater cast parties are featured in Playhouse programs; with every show, programs are distributed to over 160 patrons.
The Diary of Anne Frank runs through November 19. A special Tuesday matinee has been set for November 7 at 2pm, with discounted tickets available for $22.50, all seats reserved.
