"Fast Times at Mermaid High" is an original musical featuring book and lyrics by Bert Bernardi and music by Justin Rugg. Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's "The Little Mermaid," Bernardi and Rugg have set the story in and about the halls of a high school in the early 1980's. The show features the sights, sounds, fashions and fads of the eighties, while telling the familiar tale of the mermaid who wishes for legs and life about the waves.
"Mixing classic undersea fairy tale characters with teen films and fads creates a wet, wild and wonderful world where fun takes center stage," said Bernardi. "And the original musical score, inspired by the pop, rock and new wave trends of the 80's, is both exciting and captivating."
The cast of "Fast Times at Mermaid High" includes members of Pantochino's ensemble company including Jimmy Johansmeyer, Mary Mannix, composer Rugg, Shelley Marsh Poggio, Andrea Pane, Maria Berte and George Spelvin.
