Award-winning Pantochino Productions Inc., a professional theatre company specializing in family theatre has announced the debut of its new Teen Theatre program for young actors age thirteen and up. It's first production, "Godspell Jr.," will open on February 28th in Milford.
Pantochino Teen Theatre was created to give teen actors a chance to learn, work and grow in a professional environment outside of school. Pantochino's producers
Bert Bernardi and
Jimmy Johansmeyer will lead the program, with resident musical director
Justin Rugg. The production will feature fifteen actors from New Haven and Fairfield Counties. "We are thrilled to welcome these talented actors who are traveling to us from all over the are including Fairfield, Trumbull, Easton and as far north as Durham," said Johansmeyer. "They're ready to work and are full of energy and excitement perfect for "Godspell Jr." he added.
Director Bernardi has a long connection with the show. ""Godspell" was the first professional musical I ever saw. After the show, I realized musical theatre was a career choice! I was 13 years old at the time, and this is the perfect way to begin our Teen Theatre program," he said.
"Godspell Jr" is based on "Godspell," originally conceived and directed by
John-Michael Tebelak with music and new lyrics by
Stephen Schwartz. It is presented through special arrangement with
Music Theatre International (MTI).
Performances of Pantocnino Teen Theatre's production of "Godspell Jr." will take place on Friday, February 28th at 7:30pm, and Saturday March 1st at 2pm, at St. Ann Parish Hall, 501 Naugatuck Avenue in Milford, Connecticut.
