Pantochino Productions Inc, Connecticut's award-winning non-profit theatre company has released a 'Sneak Peek" of it's anticipated second season. Specializing in original musical theatre for family audiences, the recent announcement includes the surprise addition of an "After Dark" series for mature audiences as well.
"We've created this company to entertain and enlighten audiences of all ages in the Greater New Haven Area," said co-producer Bert Bernardi. "We aim to constantly surprise our patrons with fresh, original and inimitable productions. Just when you think you know what to expect, we'll give you something better, something different and at times, something challenging," he added.
The second season will begin in October with the first Pantochino After Dark production of Douglas Carter Beane's scathing satire of Hollywood hypocrisy, "The Little Dog Laughed."
This marks Pantochino's first co-production with The Theatre Barn in New Lebanon, New York as well as the southern Connecticut area premiere of the play.
Later in October, the company will present "The Groovy Ghoulies," the first of three new musicals featuring book and lyrics by Bert Bernardi and music by Justin Rugg. Fitting for the Halloween season, this monster musical promises a rockin' good time with a decidedly 1970's flair.
For the holidays, Pantochino presents "Glitz: The Little Miss Christmas Pageant Musical, " a spoof of child glitz pageants where the audience chooses the winner at each performance.
In early 2013, "Glam Kitty Squad" will make it's debut. "Imagine Charlie's Angels portrayed by cats...and for young audiences," says co-producer Jimmy Johansmeyer. "They're mild-mannered kittens by day, and crime-stopping cats by night. We're very excited for this one," he chuckled.
Other productions in the "After Dark" series and special events for family audience will be added to the roster. A fundraising Season Kick Off Celebration will take place in September. "We'll be announcing dates and venues for all of our events in early summer," said Bernardi.
