Gregory Popovich's Comedy Pet Theater is again wowing audiences around the country with a unique combination of rescue-pet performers and eye-popping juggling. Popovich provides non-stop fun for all ages with his award-winning show featuring a cast of talented cats and dogs rescued from animal shelters and transformed into stars. The Circus Fans Association of America has even awarded Popovich its 2009 Entertainer of the Year award for his "unique and most enjoyable performance."
During the past four years of producing his popular shows at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, Popovich created a number of new acts, such a Pet Fire Marshals, Dog Football, Dr. Doolittle and Funny Geese, that he's now ready to take it on the road. "I am touring again because I would like to share those talented new pets with new audiences around the U.S.," said Popovich.
With his revamped show and the Brad Simon Organization handling management and touring, Popovich and his Comedy Pet Theater are filling venues and winning rave reviews for shows up and down the west coast:
"The Popovich Pet Circus was magical," said Dan Mayer, executive director at the Kirkland Performance Center in Kirkland, Wash. "It was a combination of juggling, clowning and animals that kept the audience engaged and entertained. Whether he was juggling rings, putting the cats through their paces or just clowning around-everyone was asking, 'How does he do that?' There is an energy to his show that translates into enthusiastic audiences."
Popovich's Comedy Pet Theater is a perfect family show and will surprise and delight every audience. Sell-out shows and record breaking crowds have greeted the Comedy Pet Theater in places like Fresno and Eureka, Calif., Eugene, Bend and Klamath Falls, Ore., and Kirkland, Wash.
Audiences at the shows have been excited and effusive, saying:
-"It's like entertainment used to be - fun and silly. With the pets doing tricks, it had my whole family laughing."
-"Popovich Comedy Pet Theater is fun for all - toddlers to teens, and beyond"
Popovich has received thousands of emails from his fans all over the country asking when his "Pet Theater" will be back to their towns and cities. With the sold-out successes of his 10 shows in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, and Seattle, that next visit may be right around the corner!
"This is not just a fun show to see, it's a fun show to book because the response is so positive," said Brad Simon of BSO. "People just love to see pets doing amazing tricks. And Gregory has worked hard to bring a new level of excitement and enjoyment to his pet theater."
But there is more than meets the eye with the Comedy Pet Theater. For Gregory Popovich, the show is animated by a deep love of cats and dogs and a very serious, life-long commitment to helping rescued pets.
"One of the main messages of my show is to bring attention for animal shelters, and the many homeless pets and rescue efforts out there. Because all my pets in my shows have been rescued by animal shelters, I feel it's my mission to 'payback' animal shelters and try to help other pets if I have this opportunity."
Popovich is anxious to work with programs in the areas he visits to help them raise awareness and funds for their pet rescue efforts, much like what came from his partnership with Greenhill Humane Society in Eugene, Or.
