The Wilton Playshop will present Stephen Swartz's classic Pippin from November 6 - November 21. The production will be directed by Wilton's Ginny Ruggieri, choreographed by Jorie Janeway and feature musical direction by Anna DiMasi. Pippin features a cast from across Fairfield County with leads from Wilton, Norwalk, Westport and Fairfield. Pippin is the lively coming of age story of King Charlemagne's oldest son. This tale first captivated audiences on Broadway and continues to appeal to the young-at-heart everywhere. Pippin is the story of Prince Pippin's quest to find personal significance.
The Leading Player guides Pippin through the trials of war, love, and politics - away from the wealth and privilege of royal life. Falling in love with a good widow, Catherine, Pippin must resist the advice of the Leading Player who tries to convince him that life is not worth living.
A special Q&A with Ridgefield writer Carol de Giere, author of Defying Gravity, a biography of Stephen Schwartz' career from Godspell to Wicked, will be held on Sunday, November 8th following the matinee. Books will be available for purchase after the show and Ms. de Giere will be available to sign purchased books.
