Music Theatre of Connecticut, Fairfield County's professional award-winning theatre company, celebrates their 30th anniversary with a one night only evening of food, drink and entertainment. The 30th Anniversary Celebration is set for Saturday, October 15, with food and drink at 6:30pm, followed by a performance in MTC's cozy 110-seat theatre. Tickets are extremely limited and proceeds benefit MTC and its programming.
Music Theatre of Connecticut was founded in 1987 by Directors Kevin Connors and Jim Schilling. MTC's mission is to provide exceptional performing arts training and professional theatre performances in Fairfield County. MTC's professional MainStage company has presented 30 seasons of critically-acclaimed productions, including new works and buried treasures of the American musical theatre. MTC is the recipient of the Connecticut Critics' Circle's highest honor, the Tom Killen Memorial Award for Outstanding Contribution to Connecticut Professional Theatre. Additionally, the theatre was presented with a Connecticut State Legislative Citation to commemorate this award.
The show will feature numerous Broadway performers and MTC veterans including Juliet Lambert Pratt (Broadway's "Passion" and "Les Miserables"; Connecticut Critics Circle Best Actress in a Musical Award-Winner for MTC's "Next to Normal"), Scott Bryce (Emmy-award nominee and MTC's "Love Letters"), Kirsti Carnahan (Broadway's "Kiss of the Spider Woman" and MTC's "Gypsy"), Will Erat (Broadway's "Catch Me If You Can" and MTC's "Next to Normal"), Dorothy Stanley (veteran of 17 Broadway shows and MTC's "Cabaret" and "A Little Night Music"), Rebecca Hoodwin (Broadway's "Fiddler on the Roof" and MTC's "Driving Miss Daisy"), Jennifer Malenke (Broadway's "Into The Woods" and MTC's "The Last Five Years"), Eric Scott Kincaid (Broadway's "Cats" and MTC's "Cabaret" and "The World Goes 'Round"), Jodi Stevens (Broadway's "Jekyll and Hyde" and MTC's "Gypsy", "Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike" and others), Carissa Massaro (Broadway's "Jane Eyre" and MTC's "Gypsy", "Evita" and others), Melissa Carlile-Price (MTC's "Cabaret" and "The World Goes 'Round"), Elissa DeMaria (MTC's "Next to Normal" and "Little Shop of Horrors"), Christopher DeRosa (MTC's "Evita", "Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike" and others), Matt Greenberg (MTC's "Evita" and alumni of MTC's College-Bound in the Performing Arts), Logan Hart (National Tour of "The Book of Mormon" and MTC's "Next to Normal"), Jacob Heimer (Netflix's "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" and MTC's "The Fantasticks" and "Next to Normal"), Kate Simone (MTC's "Gypsy"), Cynthia Hannah (MTC's "Almost Maine" and "Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike"), with additional guests to be announced.
The 30th Anniversary Celebration will also honor MTC Co-Founders, Kevin Connors and Jim Schilling.
Kevin Connors, MTC's Executive Artistic Director, is a six-time Connecticut Critics Circle Best Director nominee and the recipient of the CCC's Killen Award for Outstanding Contribution to Connecticut Professional Theatre, as well as a Connecticut Legislative Citation for Excellence. Off-Broadway directing credits include "Prime Time Prophet", "Jukebox Saturday Night" and last season's "Play Like A Winner" at the New York Musical Theatre Festival. Connors also has directed more than 50 MTC MainStage productions, and has created many of MTC's educational programs including the nationally-recognized College-Bound in the Performing Arts Program. He is a proud member of AEA, ASCAP and The Dramatists Guild.
Jim Schilling, MTC's Managing Director and MTC School of Performing Arts Director, has served as teaching artist, director, general manager, producer and production stage manager. As an actor, Schilling has appeared opposite Tony Roberts in "Othello", and in feature films including "Soapdish", "Cadillac Man" and as Sean Penn's body double in "Dead Man Walking". MTC productions include "Yours, Anne," "Doubt," "Almost, Maine," "God of Carnage," "The Fantasticks" and "Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike." Schilling has been a member of "Who's Who in the American Theatre" since 1991 and is a proud member of AEA, SAG, AFTRA.
