"New Rep is proud to present this challenging play by one of its favorite playwright's, David Mamet," says Artistic Director Jim Petosa. "In the hands of director Elaine Vaan Hogue, the titanic talents of Johnny Lee Davenport and Obehi Janice will create a counterpoint of intensity that will bring the central conflict of this play into sharp focus."
"New Rep is excited to welcome back both Johnny Lee Davenport and Obehi Janice to our stage," says Managing Director Harriet Sheets. "Johnny Lee returns after his masterful portrayal in our acclaimed productions of Thurgood and The Whipping Man and Obehi returns after her powerful performance in Lydia Diamond's The Gift Horse last season. We hope New Rep audiences will enjoy watching these two powerhouse performers together in David Mamet's classic drama."

David Mamet: Playwright and Provocateur
A Spotlight Symposium will be held on Wednesday November 1 at 7:30pm and will feature WBUR's Louise Kennedy and Ed Siegel discussing the themes of Oleanna, the complete works of David Mamet, and the playwright's stance on post-performance conversations. In accordance with the playwright's wishes and our contractual obligations, this event is being held on a non-performance night and will be the only opportunity during the run to discuss the play with our panelists. This event is free and open to the public. Contact symposium@newrep.org to reserve a space.
It's all about power in David Mamet's groundbreaking drama about political correctness and perception. When John, a professor, tries to help his student Carol, is it a misunderstanding or inherent misogyny that causes trouble? Featuring Johnny Lee Davenport (The Whipping Man, Thurgood) and Obehi Janice (The Gift Horse), Oleanna crackles with the fiery dialogue of Mamet at his finest.
