The New London Maritime Society is bringing two special exhibits to the Custom House Maritime Museum. One exhibit is about Captian Nathaniel Brown Palmer, the other is the New London's Regional Multicultural Magnet School's Selborne Project. The Friends of Fort Trumbull will also present John Ruddy, to discuss "The Parade, the Gateway to New London."
Captain Nathaniel Brown Palmer: A Maritime Pioneer, based on the book about the Stonington captain, who designed the first clipper ships and discovered a part of Antarctica, by Stonington author Candace Sanford, with illustrations by Susan Scala (Flat Hammock Press). Visit the exhibit then stop by the Stonington Historical Society's Captain Nathaniel B. Palmer House.
New London's Regional Multicultural Magnet School 4 & 5 grade's Selborne Project--a study of the historic sites within a kilometer of the school--are now on view at the Custom House.
The Friends of Fort Trumbull present John Ruddy, an editor at The Day, to discuss "The Parade, the Gateway to New London" & his work on an exhibition for the Custom House Maritime Museum which traced the development of New London's Parade over three centuries and into the future. The Friends of Fort Trumbull meeting will take place Thursday, August 26, at 7 PM at the Fort Trumbull Conference Center The program is open to the public.
