New England Guitar Society Opens International Guest Guitarist Series with Nick Cutroneo

Connecticut guitarist Nick Cutroneo is a young rising star performer who toured throughout the United States and Italy to critical acclaim. He has made significant contributions to the guitar repertoire by premiering solo works by Thomas Schuttenhelm, Frank Wallace and EMMY Award Winning Composer Sean Pallatroni, in addition to a guitar concerto written and dedicated to him by Dan Lis. In his NEGS season opener concert Nick Cutroneo will perform virtuoso works by Bach, Rodrigo, Giuliani, York, Dyens, and Castelnuovo-Tedesco.

NEGS guest guitarist series will continue on Saturday March 11, 2017 with Duo Diez from the UK, featuring guitarist Dimitris Dekavallas and violinist Violeta Barrena and on Saturday April 8, 2017 with Bolivian guitarist Marcos Puña with a program of international classical guitar repertoire. The season will close on Saturday May 13, 2017 with its traditional fundraising concert this year featuring The Hartt School Guitar Department from Hartford, CT, under the direction of Richard Provost. The New England Guitar Society is established to create a nurturing environment for classical guitarists to meet, share ideas, perform, compose, teach and grow as musicians. Our goal is to increase the public interest in classical guitar, to ultimately create future players and audiences.

Nick Cutroneo

Connecticut guitarist Nick Cutroneo is a young rising star performer who toured extensively throughout the United States and Italy.

As a highly sought after chamber musician, Mr. Cutroneo worked as a member of the New England Guitar Quartet, toured extensively with the violin guitar duo Tempo del Fuoco, and performed regularly with Blackledge Music Inc and the Northeast New Music Collective. He has made significant contributions to the guitar repertoire by premiering solo works by Thomas Schuttenhelm, Frank Wallace and EMMY Award Winning Composer Sean Pallatroni, in addition to a guitar concerto written and dedicated to him by Dan Lis.

Active in the Connecticut community, Mr. Cutroneo performs regularly at assisted living facilities, public libraries, and gives master classes and clinics at public schools with the goal of increasing the interest in the classical guitar by a new generation of Americans.

Mr. Cutroneo attended the Pre-College division at the Juilliard School of Music later earning both his Bachelors and Master's Degrees in Classical Guitar Performance at the Hartt School of Music as a student of Richard Provost. At the same time he completed the Long Term Suzuki Pedagogy program studying with David Madsen. He

is the first person in the country to hold a masters degree in Classical Guitar Performance with an emphasis in Suzuki Guitar Pedagogy.

Mr. Cutroneo currently serves on faculty at Central Connecticut State University and Manchester Community College. Mr. Cutroneo plays a 2006 Alan H. Chapman extended lattice guitar and uses LaBella 2001 Strings.
